Our Programmes

North East Scotland College have recently become part of SWAP and plan to run SWAP programmes in Nursing, Life Sciences and Humanities. Links to these will be available soon.

Fife College are adding an
Access to Engineering programme to their SWAP portfolio.

New to D & A College for 18/19 will be an
Access to Physical Sciences.

Also, new to SWAP this year is Inverness College's
Access to Nursing programme.

All SWAP East access programmes are full-time (18-20 hours in class per week), are delivered by local colleges and run from August to June. The subjects studied depends on both the course and the college, but the majority of the units will be at SCQF level 6 (Higher level). Students are assessed on their performance throughout the year.

Those who complete the programme are each awarded a profile grading that reflects their individual performance. Any university offers you receive are likely to be conditional on you achieving a specific profile grading.
SWAP East programmes by subject area
There are access programmes covering a wide range of subjects.  These can be grouped into 6 broad categories:

The access programme you should apply to do will mainly depend on what you wish to progress to study later.   Find out which access programme you need for entry to different degree programmes using our

If you are based in Glasgow or the west of Scotland, or wish to go on to study at a university there, go to the SWAP West section for details of access programmes running in that area.
