SWAP has helped me get the job I have always dreamed of!!
On leaving school going to University was not an option for me due to the financial burden. After spending 17 years in the Bank I became a full time Mum. When my son began nursery I began to look at the options for me to retrain as a Primary School Teacher. I had looked at going to night classes to re-sit Highers (as they are out of date after 5 years) however the Careers Advisor at the college gave me information about SWAP. The course is fantastic because you get a taste of a variety of subjects and it prepares you for University life having to write essays and study different subjects. My college even arranged a day trip to the University of Stirling so we could have a "taster day" of Uni life. This day changed everything for me as the University had just introduce a new Primary Teaching course with a Specialism in Environmental Science. I began my degree at Stirling in 2008 and graduated with an Ordinary Degree in December 2011. I have already begun teaching as a Supply teacher in local schools and can't wait to begin my probationary year in August 2012. Thank you to all the wonderful staff at SWAP!
